The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume, dispense, or sell Sherwood Pirate’s Gold milk chocolate coins which is imported from China. Is chocolate slowly becoming an indelicacy instead of an enjoyable indulgence? What is the chocolate world coming to?! So far the candy is being recalled after testing positive for the industrial chemical melamine which the Canadian food standards do not define it as a food ingredient. The candy was mass sold to dollar and bulk stores. Retailers and importers have been asked to remove the candy from sale. And there have been no reported illnesses associated with the candy in this country.
Although the health risk associated with these products is considered low, the federal advisory was issued after an investigation into milk and milk-derived products from China that may have reached Canadian store shelves.
